HS2 Roadworks:
Please be aware that there are ever-changing traffic management systems in place around Quainton. Please check one.network before your visit, for up to date information on road closures and delays that may affect your journey. The main one being the bridge closure on Station Road - read on:

BRIDGE CLOSURE:
Please note that the bridge near our entrance has been closed since August 2022. This means you have to approach us from the centre of Quainton village:
Coming from Aylesbury: Come through the Berryfields development and directly into Quainton. After the village green on your right, turn left down Station Road, although it will say Station Road is closed, but the closure is beyond our entrance.
Coming from Bicester: Turn left off the A41 at the traffic lights before Waddesdon. Then, at the bridge where the road is closed, follow the diversion to the left through the HS2 works. Follow Snake Lane rund until the T-junction. Turn right and come into Quainton village. You can then turn right down Station Road after the primary school, although it will say Station Road is closed, the closure is beyond our entrance.
Coming from The Claydons: Come through Botolph Claydon, into Quainton and turn right down Station Road just after the primary school, although it will say Station Road is closed, the closure is beyond our entrance.
Coming from Whitchurch: Come through Whitchurch, Oving and Pitchcott and turn right at the crossroads and come into Quainton village. After the village green on yur right, turn left down Station Road, although it will say Station Road is closed, the closure is beyond our entrance.

PURCHASE OF NEW LOCO PECKETT no.1370 'MAY'

Peckett 0-4-0ST Class R2, no.1370, built 1915

Over the last few years, we have very kindly received legacies from a few members. We wanted to ensure that these legacies were used towards an enduring, visible and fitting tribute. To this end, we have purchased a new locomotive, Peckett 1370, affectionately named 'May'. This is an exciting addition to our Steam Fleet!

NEW FUNDING APPEAL FOR MET 1:

A new appeal has been set up by Quainton Railway Society executive committee to raise £70,000 to complete the overhaul of our flagship locomotive Metropolitan No.1.
