PLEASE NOTE: The following road closure is in place until 12th August. If you are arriving from Bicester direction, Station Road from the A41 is closed partway down, so you will not be able to get to us. You should be diverted through Waddesdon and directed to turn off to the left on Blackgrove Road, signposted to Whitchurch, Oving and Quainton. There should be a yellow sign saying 'to railway centre'. When you come through Quainton village, please turn down Station Road, by the Memorial Hall. The road will say that it is closed, but this is past our entrance. Please click here for diversion map.
STEAMING SUNDAYS: We are open on Sundays when visitors can enjoy steam train rides, the Railway Museum, miniature and model railways, plus our stunning Visitor Centre is open too, along with our cafe and gift shop. (Check our calendar for certain other Steaming Days and Special Event days)
MID-WEEK CAFE: Our Railway Cafe and Gift Shop inside our visitor centre are open Monday-Friday, 9.30am-1.30pm with no entry ticket required, however please note, during the week, there are no steam train rides or access to the rest of the site, just the picnic table area outside. WHAT'S ON THIS WEEK:
August Steaming Days:
Throughout August, we run Wednesdays as Steaming Days as well as Sundays. A steam loco will be offering passenger rides up and down the track and the whole site will be open including the Visitor Centre, Railway Museum, Miniature and Model Railways, Travelling Post Office, cafe, gift shop and second hand book shop! No need to pre-book, just turn up anytime from 10.30am. We close at 5pm, last admissions recommended by 3pm.
August 3rd - Steaming Wednesday:
We're steaming today - open from 10.30am! We are also running a Steam Engine Driving Experience this morning, as it had to postponed from when it was 40 degree heat (imagine the temperatures on a steam engine that day!) This means steam train rides are running a little less often this morning - you'll be pleased to know we don't allow 'learners' to operate our trains with passengers! So please bear with us. Trains will run at 11.30, 12.45 and the 2pm and every 30 minutes onwards.
Railway Cafe Closures:
Please note: There are a handful of days when The Railway Cafe will be closed due to Thomas Days, or private functions. Click here to see these dates and for more cafe information
