Our Cafe

Our Railway Cafe

MIDWEEK CAFE!

Our Railway Cafe is open Monday to Friday, all year round, with no entry ticket required. Current opening hours are 9.30am-2pm. Our Railway Cafe sells good value breakfast and lunch options, including Full English Breakfasts, baps/sandwiches made to order, sausage rolls, burgers, chips and freshly baked cakes, plus snacks and hot/cold drinks and ice creams. On these Cafe-Only days, the bridges are closed so there isn't access to The Railway Museum etc, but cafe users are welcome to wander around the Visitor Centre and the close vicinity outside, which includes our new play area!

Everyone is Welcome! We especially welcome cyclists on our Cafe Only days. Our Visitor Centre is large and cyclists are able to bring their bikes inside to keep them safe! Or, we have plenty of outdoor seating for those who prefer to stay outside. We also welcome dogs inside, as well as groups of parents/carers with children and babies in buggies - there's plenty of room for everyone! As well as the play area outside, we also have train tables inside to keep the children happy! Any queries, please call us on 01296 655720

NB There are some days that the cafe is not able to open, see below...

Steaming Days and Special Events
On Steaming Days and Special Events (Green or Orange on the calendar), our café is open all day (10.30am-5pm) and sells hot (until 3pm) and cold food including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, bacon/sausage baguettes, chips, sausage rolls etc and then a Dish of the Day which could be, for example: lasagne, BBQ chicken or fajitas! On these days, the café also sells cake and biscuits, crisps, chocolate bars, hot and cold drinks and ice creams/lollies. Cyclists are welcome to visit the cafe on these days too.

Please note, on Bank Holidays when a Special Event is running, or a rare mid-week Thomas Day, the Railway Cafe will only be open for people with tickets. There is also a very rare occasion when we have a mid-week wedding/private function when the cafe will be closed. These dates for 2023 so far are below:
Good Friday (Thomas Day)
Easter Monday (Closed)
Thursday 4th May (Wedding)
Friday 13th October (Private function)
