Come and see Father Christmas in a grotto with a difference: on a steam train pulled by Thomas!
Take a steam train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine when all children (including babes in arms) will receive a present from Father Christmas - whilst you are waiting, you will also be visited on the train by Cha Char Chimps for a little Sing-Song!
• Meet the Fat Controller
• Watch a live children’s show
• Enjoy colouring and badge - ride the tea cups, making at the Imagination Station
• Have a go on the tea cup rides (no charge)
• Enjoy refreshments (hot drink/mince pie for adults, carton of juice and biscuit for kids)
ALL this is included in your ticket price!
Spend time in our beautiful glass-roofed Visitor Centre complete with big Christmas tree, beautifully restored locomotive and carriages on display.
First or Second Class?
The difference is only in the compartment you travel in on the train. First class compartments have plusher seats; the seats are also larger - hence why there are only six per compartment not eight - and there are arm rests and curtains. The rest of the experience is the same (presents, refreshments etc). First Class seats always sell out first, so if you want first class, please do not delay in booking. The train ride is around 25 minutes long. As we only have 1/3 mile-long track, the train goes up and down a few times whilst Father Christmas makes his way through the compartments seeing all the children and giving them presents. Cha Char Chimps will also make their way through the compartments for a little Sing-Song!
Standard ticket: £16
First Class: £17.50
Babes in arms under 12 months: £4.50
Choose your preferred train and arrive at least 20 minutes before the train is due to depart.
Train times: 10.25am, 11.15am, 12.20pm, 1.05pm, 2.20pm or 3.15pm
Pre-booking at Christmas is ESSENTIAL.

NB Our Festive Day Out With Thomas is different to our normal Days Out With Thomas in the summer. The main difference being that, due to the health and safety of staff, volunteers and visitors, the miniature railway does not run and the museum over the footbridge will not be open. All of the above activities are included, however, and you can expect to spend two and a half to three hours here. The main event is obviously riding on a steam train with Thomas whilst waiting for Father Christmas to come and see you in your train compartment and give presents to the children! Peep, Peep! We can't wait!
Tesco vouchers are unable to be used for Thomas or Christmas.
