Moving the Mail

 Sunday 11th August 10.30am-5pm

On display for the first time will be our 1940s Post Office van which you can admire on the forecourt of our Victorian station building. All, visit our new TPO display coach (from 12.30pm) - includes a "TV Theatre” and reconstruction of the train robbers’ hideout kitchen! (Robber playing Monopoly with – 'real' money?!)

Did you know it took place near here, 56 years ago? At 3am on August 9th 1963, an armed gang stopped the mail train between Leighton Buzzard and Cheddington, and stole over £2.5 million.

Inside our Travelling Post Office carriages, you can see how mail used to be sorted - you can have a go at sorting the mail yourself!

Also, as usual, there will be free steam train rides; miniature train rides (£1 charge for those age 3+), and modern Museum, complete with 1946 Mail Van and Underground Post Office Vehicles!

Buy a souvenir of your visit in the Visitor Centre gift shop; hot and cold food and drinks are also sold in the Visitor Centre. Plenty of picnic tables or grass if you plan on bringing a picnic.

On the gate prices:
Adult: £11
Child (5-15): £8
