Our Railway Café is open Monday to Friday 9.30am-2pm (when the rest of the site is closed) and sells well-priced Full English Breakfasts, baps/sandwiches made to order, burgers, chips, toasties, paninis and cake/muffins, plus snacks and hot/cold drinks and ice creams.
On these mid-week Café-only days, the footbridges are closed so there isn’t access to The Railway Museum etc, but café users are welcome to wander around our stunning glass-roofed Visitor Centre and the close vicinity outside – including our children’s play area.
We especially welcome cyclists and walkers on our Café-only days! Our Visitor Centre is large and cyclists are able to bring their bikes inside to keep them safe! Or, we have plenty of outdoor seating for those who prefer to stay outside. We also welcome walkers with muddy boots and dogs! Any queries, please call us on 01296 655720.
Also, groups of parents/carers with buggies – we can fit you all in here easily as we have so much space! We have three train tables for the children to enjoy, giving you peace to enjoy your coffee!
On Steaming Days and Special Events (Green or Orange on the calendar), our Railway Café is open all day (10.30am-5pm) and sells a variety of options including sandwiches, jacket potatoes, bacon/sausage baguettes, chips, sausage rolls as well as cake, biscuits, crisps, chocolate bars, hot and cold drinks and ice creams/lollies. (Hot food served until 3pm). Cyclists are welcome to visit the café on these days too.
Please note, on Bank Holidays when a Special Event is running, or a very rare mid-week Thomas Day, the Railway Café will only be open for people with tickets. There is also a very rare occasion when we have a mid-week wedding/private function when the café will be closed. Please check our calendar for up to date information.
